    Wrote 'Nixon: The Education of a Politician (1987),' 'Nixon: The Triumph of a Politician (1989),' 'Eisenhower; Soldier and President (1991),' 'Nixon: Ruin and Recovery, 1973-1990 (1991),' 'Band of Brothers (1992),' 'D-Day: June 6, 1944 (1994),' 'Undaunted Courage (1996),' 'Citizen Soldiers (1997)'

Why he might be annoying:

    He is accused of plagiarizing several passages in at least seven of his books and he admits to plagiarizing, but claims it was 'accidental,' even though in some cases it was word-for-word.
    He claimed some of the people he plagiarized were not 'real' authors.
    He was married three times.
    He hated the small town he grew up in, he claimed 'Republicans who made over $10,000 a year ran the place.'
    He smoked his entire life, which caused his lung cancer and eventually his death.
    He was considered the world's foremost expert on Richard Nixon.
    Although he wrote many books on WW II, he greatly ignored the Pacific theater aspects of the war and concentrated solely on D-Day and the European theater.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was Dwight Eisenhower's official biographer.
    Many of his books are best sellers.
    He was an expert on Lewis and Clark, D-Day and Dwight Eisenhower.
    He was President and founder of the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana.
    He had a Bachelor's Degree and a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Wisconsin.
    He played College football at the University of Wisconsin.
    When he spoke about history, he could make the simplest thing seem important.
    He once said: 'The past is a source of knowledge and the future is a source of hope. Love of the past implies faith in the future.'
