Despite being considered a pioneer for Indigenous actors, his career never got the recognition it truly deserved.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was considered caring and compassionate by his peers.
He was a residential school survivor.
Despite having no acting experience, he landed on 'The Beachcombers' and stayed for the entirety of the show's run.
He was considered a trailblazer by playing a contemporary character, and not a caricature based on Indigenous stereotypes.
He took up both fishing and clam harvesting, after walking away from acting.
