The Resume

    (August 21, 1954- )
    Born in Columbus, Ohio
    Running back
    Attended Ohio State University
    Two-time Heisman Trophy winner (1974-75)
Played for the Cincinnati Bengals (1976-82) and USFL Jacksonville Bulls (1985)
College stats: 5,589 rushing yards (6.1 average per carry)
    24 touchdowns
NFL stats: 2,808 rushing yards (4.1 average per carry)
    7 touchdowns
Named President and CEO of the OSU Alumni Association (2004)

Why he might be annoying:

He was reluctant to sign with OSU, worried that he was too small (5'8 and 180 pounds) for their ground game.
On his first college carry, he fumbled the ball.
Although hardly a Heisman bust, his pro stats were considered disappointing.
He said, 'When I came into pro football, I had the goal of gaining 1,000 yards in a season. But I quickly learned I wasn't going to run the ball enough to get those kinds of numbers.'
He was chosen by ESPN as the #1 example of an outstanding college player with a mediocre pro career.

Why he might not be annoying:

During his second game for OSU, he rushed for 239 yards, breaking the school's single-game record.
He set a NCAA record by rushing for 100 or more yards in 31 consecutive games.
He is the first (and as 2011 only) player to win the Heisman Trophy twice.
Coach Woody Hayes said, 'We value Archie's attitude more than his football ability, which is saying something because he can do everything' and 'He's a better young man than he is a football player, and he's the best football player I've ever seen.'
He graduated OSU a semester early and returned to the school to earn an MBA.
After the Jim Tressel scandal, he noted 'We've got a great university, and the university is bigger than the game of football.'
