Why Dubrovnik, Croatia might be annoying:

    It was nearly destroyed by a fire. (August 16, 1296)
    It was also nearly destroyed again, this time by an earthquake that killed about 5,000 people, starting the decline of the Republic of Ragusa. (April 6, 1667)
    It was besieged by the Yugoslav army during the Croatian war of independence. (October 1, 1991-May 31, 1992)
    US Air Force Flight IFO-21 crashed near the city while on an official trade mission. (April 3, 1996)
    Some of its old town streets are quite slippery as a result of being walked on for centuries.
